On June 21 Sandra Ruttan, Susan Healey, Dean Perry, and Michael Mings performed pieces for voice, piano and clarinet for the cause of “more music for more children.”

They were joined by guest speakers, Ken Lewis, of Sistema Huronia, and Phil Harman, of the Ontario Musician’s Association (OMA).

Phil spoke about the efforts the OMA are making to bring more music instruction to the children of Simcoe County, with the “No Student Left Out” charitable program that they promote.

Children from the free after school music program “Rhythm and Pitch,” at Grace United Church, sang and performed on recorders and rhythm instruments to demonstrate the learning they were engaging in through the program.

Thanks to everyone’s efforts, a free-will offering raised $1,050.05 for Rhythm and Pitch.

This money is being used to buy print materials and some instruments. Thank you to all who participated and contributed!

For those who don’t know, Sandra started a summer music camp for kids in 2012. This link tells the story:
