Sandra Ruttan, who has a music education degree, was inspired by a musical movement called El Sistema, which began in Venezuela with 11 children, expanded to hundreds more and it has spread to other countries around the globe.
“It’s simple — music is good for children and gives them life advantages. It lined up well with what I feel about music,” says Ruttan. “It’s my small way of lining up with this kind of idea — I wish it was the beginning of something more substantial.”
She has created a music education program tailored to teach rudiments of music to kids who show a special interest beyond what is available in the regular school system. It may seem too good to be true. Check it out: Rhythm & Pitch
